Evolving Curriculum

We currently offer two, half-day sessions that cover the specifics of the RAC program. Because we continually monitor RAC and update the material to reflect the most current information available, expert advice, and future program direction, the OptumInsight RAC Education material will continue to evolve as the RAC program changes.

For your convenience, these sessions are presented at the client site in a classroom setting and can be offered separately or together.

Sample Session #1: RAC Management Concerns and Action Plans

Developed for a general audience of HIM, Revenue Cycle, and Coding and Compliance Managers, the session addresses essential subject areas such as:

• RAC Overview:
  Learn about the RAC program and its progress, CMS’ goals and objectives, and the typical RAC contractor process.

• Latest RAC data:
  Learn what the RAC program is identifying as recoverable CMS payments, which inpatient and outpatient cases are being targeted, issues driving RAC contractor case selection, processes, and findings, and how to determine which appeals are successful and which are not.

• RAC management advice:
  Learn how to prepare for a RAC Audit, how to identify and develop a viable RAC program, and how to implement and manage the program.

Sample Session #2: HIM/Coder Hands-On Education

The session provides attendees with important information about how to manage cases that have been, or are likely to be, the focus of RAC audits. Attendees should bring an ICD-9-CM and CPT® Book. Topics covered include:

• Potential RAC targets
• Questions and answer session
