Lee Valenta is the president of Life Sciences for OptumInsight. In this role, Valenta leads the global operations that assist pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device clients in identifying, analyzing, and measuring the value of their products. OptumInsight Life Sciences includes hundreds of expert professionals worldwide and has operations in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and the Asia/Pacific region.

Valenta served as chief operating officer for OptumInsight for five years and spent many years prior to that working with life sciences companies, including time as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for the Life Sciences business at OptumInsight.

Valenta has more than 30 years of experience in operations, finance, and mergers and acquisitions. Before joining OptumInsight, he worked as a global managing partner for Arthur Andersen LLP and served on the firm’s National Healthcare Practice, responsible for directing consulting engagements for life sciences and health care clients. He also spent eight years as chief financial officer and vice president of corporate development for Hunter-Keith, Inc., a Minneapolis-based private equity firm.

Valenta is an honorary member of the board of directors of Pillsbury United Communities. He holds a BA in accounting from Luther College.
