
Beth Hartquist, MD
Vice President, Care Redesign, Accountable Care Solutions, Optum
Beth Hartquist has over 25 years of health care experience including executive leadership, care redesign, quality and process improvement, operations and clinical consulting, as well as clinical practice. Dr. Hartquist leads the OptumInsight Care Redesign practice and works with provider clients to transform their delivery model to support accountable care.
Prior to joining OptumInsight (formerly Carol Corporation), Dr. Hartquist served as chief of Primary Care at Park Nicollet Health Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her key accomplishments include primary care model redesign to achieve measured improvements in clinical quality outcomes and realized pay-for-performance targets. She also served as the OptumInsight Medical Director, Evidence-Based Medicine Connect. Dr. Hartquist has broad experience in the application of lean methodology in health care, targeting the patient experience, clinical flow, quality, cost, optimal staffing models, and facility design.
In recent consulting engagements, Dr. Hartquist led care redesign strategy development, assessments, and implementation efforts at Fairview Health Services, Iowa Health System, Texas Health Resources, University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care, Tucson Medical Center, Provencial Health Services Authority of British Columbia, and Florida Hospital ZephyrHills.
Dr. Hartquist holds a bachelor’s degree from North Park University and completed her MD at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She maintains medical licensure in the state of Minnesota and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
