Shawn Wagoner leads business development efforts for strategic accounts at Optum. In this role, Wagoner works with large health systems to integrate the broad capabilities of Optum into the planning and execution of their value based initiatives. Wagoner has successfully partnered with the executive teams of four pioneer ACOs, including leading an effort to establish a population health management model that successfully held total cost of care growth constant year over year. Before joining Optum, Wagoner co-founded the accountable care consulting practice at Carol Corporation, a leading strategic consulting firm focused on helping providers develop and implement accountable care strategies. Prior to his roles at Carol, Wagoner worked in the network management division of UnitedHealthcare. Wagoner was an officer in the U.S. Army before transitioning to health care. His military service included a tour of duty in Iraq. Wagoner is a graduate of West Point and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
