Optum's Ted Hoy participates in Institute for e-Health Policy Congressional Luncheon panel discussion: Health IT Toward Improved Patient Care pdf
Ted Hoy, senior vice president of Cloud Solutions at Optum, discusses the need for interoperable systems and more effective clinical data exchange during the Institute for eHealth Policy Congressional luncheon series.  During this May 9 session, Hoy joined the Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics panel discussion on “Saving Lives: Advancing Health Information Technology Towards Improved Patient Safety and Quality."

The program focused on potential benefits of implementing health IT toward measurable quality improvements.  Speakers discussed various approaches to IT-enabled quality programs as well as the risks posed by potentially defective or poorly implemented systems.  The role of private sector and federal regulatory efforts were also addressed.  Representatives of government, industry and provider organizations participated in order to present a balanced view of policy issues and their implications for patient safety.
