OptumInsight Boosts Payer Solutions Business with Senior Leadership Appointments

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., August 2, 2011 – OptumInsight (formerly Ingenix), a leading provider of health care information, technology and consulting services, announced that Benton Davis and Nick Howell have joined the company’s payer solutions business as senior vice president, Clinical Communities and Networks, and senior vice president, Operational and Administrative Efficiency Solutions, respectively.
Davis will lead new initiatives that will help health plans manage costs and improve care quality ─ an increasingly critical asset under health care reform as payers and providers collaborate in new models such as Accountable Care. Howell will lead a team focusing on technology, services and consulting solutions to enable health plans to accurately and efficiently reimburse claims, streamline claims transaction processes, and control administrative expenses.

Davis has nearly 20 years of experience in building, operating, and optimizing provider networks ─ which is incredibly valuable given the industry dynamics that require payers and providers to become increasingly collaborative, to improve quality together, and to define innovative risk models such as ACOs. He will partner with clients to implement value-based provider reimbursement strategies, strengthen payer/care provider relationships, and leverage health information exchanges to improve community health.
Prior to joining OptumInsight, Davis was CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s Western States health plan, a position he held since 2004. Previously, he worked at Humana and EQUICOR, an HCA/Equitable Corporation.
Howell has more than 20 years of health care experience. Prior to joining OptumInsight, he was a senior executive with Accenture’s Health and Public Service operating group, holding various client delivery and leadership roles. During his time at Accenture, he focused on payer operations performance improvement, including leadership roles in the areas of Payer Core Administration, Medicare and Medicaid Operations, and Health Analytics across Payer, Provider and Government health entities.
